Established in 1952 by its founder, Paul A. Fournet (1923 - 1992), a W.W.II P-38 veteran who was confined to a wheelchair; Paul Fournet Air Service has been an integral part of Lafayette's and Louisiana's aviation history, being recognized with various awards from Cessna, Mobil, Exxon, the NATA and many more.

In 1993, The Lafayette Regional Airport Commission dedicated The Paul A. Fournet Memorial, a two acre artistic landscape area featured at the main entrance to the Lafayette Regional Airport on Blue Blvd.
